Abstract painting: layers and details

I worked today on adding some more layers and detail to one of my abstract paintings. The whole bottom of the painting was a bit blah and disconnected from the top. I thought it need more dark spaces along the sides to balance it out so I added ivory black fluid acrylic and BrushO crystal watercolor. I love the way the BrushO splits into different colors, black, blue, and orange. I used multiple products to add white mostly through the center bottom of the painting to add contrast: liquitex soft body acrylic, faber castell gelatos in white, and luminance colored pencil in pink white. Next came some squiggly lines with charcoal and enhancing areas with pink, a sort of red iron oxide shade, and paynes grey colored pencils. I like to deepen and brighten areas where some color already exists but it may be a little muddy. A bit of colored pencil picks it right up. I also added a smidge of green, a mix of paynes grey and raw sienna, at the bottom of the painting to connect with the top. It’s very busy but I can’t see blocking out large areas with flat color. Maybe this collection of paintings are meant to be busy or maybe with time I’ll grow into quieting the work down.
